⚖️

Croatian Maritime Law

Yes — Croatian maritime law (Pravilnik o plovidbi i boravku plovila) requires a Category B boat licence (or equivalent) to operate a personal watercraft (jet ski) in Croatian waters.

International licences are fully accepted. You do not need a Croatian licence. The following are all valid:

  • 🇬🇧 UK — RYA Powerboat Level 2 or ICC (International Certificate of Competence)
  • 🇩🇪 Germany — Sportbootführerschein See (SBF See)
  • 🇦🇹 Austria — Österreichischer Motorbootführerschein B
  • 🇫🇷 France — Permis Plaisance côtier
  • 🇮🇹 Italy — Patente Nautica categoria B
  • 🇺🇸 USA — NASBLA-approved boating certificate
  • 🇦🇺 Australia — State-issued recreational watercraft licence
  • 🇨🇦 Canada — Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • 🌍 Any other nationally recognised boat/watercraft licence

If you are unsure whether your licence qualifies, call us — we'll confirm in minutes. Our guides check licences before every tour.
Yes — wearing a life jacket (prsluk za spašavanje) is mandatory at all times while operating a jet ski in Croatian waters, under Articles 57 and 67 of the Croatian Maritime Code.

We provide CE-certified life jackets for every rider — included in your tour price. You don't need to bring your own. Life jackets are inspected daily and fitted individually before each tour.
Yes — wearing a helmet is mandatory when operating a jet ski in Croatian waters. The Harbour Master's Office (Lučka kapetanija) and maritime police actively enforce this rule and issue fines on the spot for non-compliance.

We provide CE-certified helmets for every rider, individually fitted before departure — included in your tour price. No need to bring your own. Our guides wear helmets on every tour without exception.
Under Croatian maritime law, the minimum age to independently operate a personal watercraft is 18 years, and you must hold a valid Category B licence.

Passengers: Children aged 8 and above may ride as a passenger (behind a licensed adult driver). Children under 8 are assessed individually based on weight and sea conditions — please contact us before booking.
Yes. Croatian maritime law sets the following limits:

  • Within 300m of the shore: maximum 10 knots (~18 km/h)
  • In designated navigation channels: as posted
  • Open sea (beyond 300m): no general speed limit, but operators must maintain safe speed at all times

Every jet ski in our fleet is equipped with GPS-based automatic speed limiting. The system detects when you are within 300m of the shore and electronically limits the engine to 10 knots — making it physically impossible to exceed the legal limit in coastal zones. You don't need to think about it; the jet ski handles it automatically.

Our guides also brief you on all local speed zones before departure. Violations of maritime rules can result in fines from the Croatian Harbour Master (Lučka kapetanija).
Yes. Commercial jet ski rental and guided tours in Croatia are regulated by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and the Harbour Master's Office (Lučka kapetanija Dubrovnik).

Operators must hold a valid commercial maritime licence, third-party liability insurance, and maintain equipment to Croatian Coast Guard standards. Jet Ski Dubrovnik is fully licensed, insured and inspected annually. You can request our documentation at any time.

Experience & Requirements

No experience is needed at all. Our certified guides provide a full hands-on safety briefing before every tour — typically 10–15 minutes — covering controls, speed management, turning, stopping and emergency procedures.

We take first-time riders from nervous to confident on every single tour. Our Yamaha WaveRunner FX jets are designed to be intuitive and forgiving for beginners.
If you don't have a boat licence, you can ride as a passenger (behind a licensed driver) on the same jet ski. You'll still get the full experience — speed, sea spray, caves and stunning views.

If you want to drive independently, you'll need a valid Category B boat licence or equivalent. Book a passenger spot for your partner or friend without a licence.
Yes — we provide CE-certified life jackets that keep you afloat regardless of swimming ability. We brief all riders on water safety procedures before departure.

If you have concerns, please mention this when booking and our guides will take extra care of you throughout the tour.

Light rain or cloudy skies are not a reason to cancel — jet skiing in mild rain is actually a unique and memorable experience.
Absolutely. Groups of 3+ people book multiple jet skis and ride together as a convoy — very popular with families, stag/hen parties and corporate events.
